REVIEW: A PUNISHMENT BEATING FOR THE MIND / BROKEN MINDS

BM

“Broken Minds have got some hype shit,” said Professor Griff (from the legendary Public Enemy) to describe this 3-man Rap-core outfit straight outta Wolverhampton. He be right: the appropriately-titled debut album A Punishment Beating For The Mind fuses hardcore Punk, Hip-Hop, Metal and Industrial elements (just to name a few); and the aggressive delivery is definitely not for the faint-hearted. Doom the emcee spits politically-charged verse over Ben Haystacks’ grungy guitar riffs; while DJ Moca compliments with some nice cuts and scratches at the backbone of the group. The style is so noncompliant that it may be a bit too much for some promoters to stomach, but the Underground heads will no doubt jump on this…
